Why content Creators Shouldn’t Sleep on Substack!!
We were invited to attend a Substack Event in LA last week…
Here’s What You Need to Know
There was a recent Substack event in LA, and as huge fans of the platform, we had to have someone from our team there. Ana, our VA made it!! Here’s what she brought back:
First of all, I’m a massive fan of Substack for content creators- so let’s dive right in.
Why Creators Shouldn’t Sleep on Substack:
In today’s digital world, community-building is everything. And Substack is seriously stepping up for creators.
While it’s often described as a mix between a newsletter and a blog, Substack is so much more. Sure, you can publish blog-style posts that get delivered via email- but that’s just the beginning.
You can also:
Post short-form videos
Go live
Host community chats
Launch a podcast
It’s a robust ecosystem designed for real connection between creators and their communities.
Monetization Made Simple (and Flexible)
Substack allows you to monetize however works best for you. They recommend premium content priced around $4–$5 per month, but you can also:
Offer free content
Include affiliate links
Create exclusive experiences for subscribers
There’s no one-size-fits-all here—and that’s the beauty of it!!
Build Your Community- and Actually Own It
Another major plus? You own your audience. (Not to sound culty! 😂) But really- you can download your subscriber list, including emails, at any time. That kind of control and transparency is rare on digital platforms.
Plus, the content you create on Substack can help grow your presence across other platforms (hello, Instagram! 👀)
How to Grow Your Substack: Insights from the Event
A popular question asked at the event: “How do I grow on Substack?”
The answer? Well, it may annoy you- BUT…..Consistency is key they say! Stick to a content schedule, establish your content pillars, and publish regularly. Easy peasy.
They also emphasized engaging with other Substack creators- via community chats, Lives, or collaborations. It’s not groundbreaking advice, but it’s a crucial reminder.
The Heart of Substack: Trust and Community
The biggest takeaway from the event? Substack isn’t just about building awareness- it’s about building trust. That really resonated with me. Because at the end of the day, being a trusted voice is the foundation for any meaningful community.
And Substack is the perfect platform for that.
