COVID-19 has affected each and every one of us in various ways. #sponsored We all know of someone who lost a loved one or is dealing with the aftermath of contracting the virus. For many people, the continued distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine is a sign of hope for healing! I am glad to be partnering with the Ad Council to tell you why I decided on getting vaccinated and help spread awareness. #psa
As someone who has already fought once and survived Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), am immunocompromised, and someone considered high risk for getting Covid-19, I was more than ready to receive my Covid-19 vaccine! The majority of Covid-19 patients that are being put on ventilators/life support because they have developed ARDS and sepsis due to this virus. ARDS is a serious condition that can develop over a few days or come on suddenly and very quickly worsen. It occurs when a person can't get enough air and oxygen into their bloodstream due to the build up of fluid in the lungs. ARDS can affect people of any age as a result of infection, severe injury, or other illness. I can still remember those last moments before I was put into a coma. It felt like I was trying to breathe underwater. A feeling of pain that I do not wish upon anyone.
I didn't just get vaccinated to protect myself. I got it to protect my loved ones and of course for the return to a new normal. The vaccines available have been proven to be safe and effective after rigorous clinical testing. Getting vaccinated is a very personal choice and that is why it is so important to get informed about the COVID-19 vaccines and encourage friends and family to #stopthespread!
With the majority of the population vaccinated, it can effectively stop the spread and build protection against this virus! Together, we can protect children, pregnant women, the elderly, and those like myself with a weakened immune system. We can spare so many families the heartbreak my own family has seen.
